HUGHSHOWS BEGAN IN 2004 as an outlet for founder Hugh Twyman’s photographic documentation of the Pittsburgh music landscape.
Since then it has become the premiere source for local music in the region.
WITH OVER 1000 INTERVIEWS (INCLUDING BRUCE HORNSBY, MAVIS STAPLES AND BRIAN WILSON) AND HUNDREDS OF SHOWS PHOTOGRAPHED, HughShows continues to grow with the expansion into event production (including providing an essential role as the curator for the annual Deutschtown Music Festival every July) as well as producing an ongoing monthly television show featuring live Pittsburgh musical performances from the area’s leading independent bands and solo artists.
Once called “The Godfather of Pittsburgh Music Blogs” for the sheer longevity of frequently producing unique, original content as many others have stopped, Hugh Twyman was awarded a day in the city of Pittsburgh named in his honor on July 18, 2014 which was exactly ten years to the day he began HughShows, to celebrate his commitment to the promotion of the arts and the ever-growing music community.
HughShows continues to bring exclusive music/video premieres, fresh show previews, artist interviews and exclusive photography to the many fans of Pittsburgh music throughout the tri-state region and beyond.
Bill is a teacher by day and webmaster by night. Bill started working with bands and their online presence in 1995. He founded AK Music Scene in February of 2004 and the Pennsylvania Rock Show followed shortly after in September of 2004. In October of 2016, he founded Podcast your Scene Bill hopes that his websites help the bands around the world get their music heard. Unsigned music creates signed music, and there are a lot of bands out there that deserve a shot at that. In late 2017, Bill started his fourth unsigned music website, www.buildthescene.com.
