If you’ve been following Solunar Records, then you may be familiar with their project Overnight, a psychological thriller that will be their first official movie release. A lot of thought and care went into building this universe and to show us just how much they have in store, they are giving us the official Overnight Soundtrack Side A: Sun. They will be following up with Side B: Moon shortly after.
Featuring ten different tracks, each with a guest spot from a range of artists such as Sam Astaroth and Death of Zenith. Let’s dive in shall we?
As the album begins, you get this sense of permeance and despair through out its remainder. This album is designed to throw you off kilter. Make you feel unease. It teases the tone of the film to give the listeners an idea of the horrors in store for them. Each track perfectly blends into the mix to help carry the tone of the soundtrack. Some of my favorite tracks are, “Portal” by “Portal” by Death of Zenith featuring Sam Astaroth, “Shadowville” by Madclock featuring Seethe, and if you aren’t crying while listening to “Sun and Moon” by Death of Zenith, then do you even have a soul?
With elements of trap, metal, industrial, and even at one point jazz and funk, the Overnight Soundtrack Side A: Sun is right up my alley. I enjoyed each entry on this album, and I feel many listeners will enjoy it as well. I kept tapping my feet and bobbing my head to the beats within. It sends you to a very dark place but I enjoyed the way it takes you there.
The soundtrack officially drops today, and you get yourself a copy using this link.
