November’s theme was Gone To Soon. I shared with you some of the artists that we lost way to early. I also talked about the infamous “27 Club”. This month’s Who’s Kissin’ Santa Now Spotify Playlist is more upbeat for those of us that enjoy Christmas music. For any of you who have been with me since the beginning know that last year’s Christmas genre was metal. That’s not the case this month.
This month’s Christmas selection is predominantly currently performing artists. I also threw in an artist I love that’s no longer performing. I didn’t know she had a Christmas song. She is also the artist that sang my most listened to song of 2021, but that is a topic for another time. Growing up, the Christmas music I listened to was from artists of another era. It was comprised of people like Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Andy Williams, Brenda Lee and Bing Crosby to name a few. I still love those classics and they will always have a special place in my heart. At one point in time they would have been the “currently” performing artists.
The playlist for this month is comprised though of artists like Ariana Grande, Sia, Meghan Trainor, John Legend and Crowder. My taste for a different sounding Christmas music originally started in the late 80’s with the release of the “A Very Special Christmas” CDs. Those collections, similar to my playlist, featured artists that were popular at the time of their release. The newer music will never replace my first love, but will just expand my collection of Christmas music I listen to every year.
Unlike most of my articles this is going to be very short. I just wanted to share some new Christmas music from my “Who’s Kissin’ Santa Now” playlist with you for the holiday season.
