Hailing from the 814, Erie Pennsylvania’s Human Delusion have just unleashed a leviathan of an album aptly titled “Depravity“. From the moment I hit play on the album’s intro track “Sentenced”, I knew I was gonna be in for a wild ride. Pennsylvania’s metal scene has been a breeding ground for amazing metal as of lately and these guys are no exception.

“Delusion” harkens back to the familiar sounds of the early 00’s metalcore with a modern touch. You have the melodeath tinged hardcore of bands such as “The Agony Scene” melded together with the technical proficiency of blackened metalcore heavy weights “The Black Dahlia Murder”.

Though the album boasts a somewhat dated sound, I was so glad to hear a metal album that wasn’t littered in djent breakdowns. Human Delusion’s knack for smart songwriting truly makes this album a treat to listen to. Vocalist/axeman Tyler Minski and his partner in crime Kyle Hammer assault the listener with twin guitar leads and grooves that will have you air guitaring for days. Listen to the track “Headsman” and try not to riff along… I double dog dare you. On tracks such as “Sedition” skinsman Derek Sloopey and bassist Jake Hooser hammer out enough groove to shake the room around you and make you mosh til you collapse.

Human Delusion has a bright future ahead of them if they continue to churn out hellacious tunes such as these. I think if they try to find a more original niche to add to their already solid sound they are gonna be going places. Be sure to keep tabs on these guys and catch them on a stage near you.

FAM is a Pittsburgh, PA based music media company that’s all about the personal, emotional and social experience of music. The internet is awesome for finding music – living it is better! We’re bringing you professional photos from shows, articles, videos and more to remind you that your weekend doesn’t have to be spent here in the virtual world but with people who have at least one thing in common with you – a shared taste for music. Music media has been done before, but we flipped the script and concentrate on the stuff you haven’t seen yet – the local and regional bands that aren’t just a name on a billboard and a face on a stage. You’re probably still going to find some national level stuff happening around the Pittsburgh area but that’s because when they come to town, they’re part of our family… and once upon a time they were a local band from somewhere.
