We’ve been asked, “How do you decide what bands to run or videos to use?”. Starting with this weeks video we’re going to try to give you a little background. The videos we use aren’t always the newest but they mean something to us. These aren’t random bands, they’re bands that we have found ourselves and have something that draws us to them. Each staff member has a say in who gets picked and we’re generally choosing our own favorites of the videos they have available. In some way, these bands and their music have touched us and we want to share them with you.

This weeks featured video is from The Crowning, from Stroudsburgh, Pa. I met this cool guy named Micah on the internet and he asked me what I thought of the song he and his brand new band had put together but hadn’t released yet. I hit play on the download on my phone and within a few notes, I stopped it to get my headphones. This song resonates with a part of me. It opens an area inside that has felt love and pain, sometimes both at once. They have so many songs of various styles. Definitely a band that really has something for everyone but this… This is my go to. Since hearing them, I’ve watched The Crowning practically catch fire in the short time they’ve been a band.

I’m finally getting to meet these guys in person and see them play live on October 6th at The Five Acre Fest – Rocktoberfest. That makes it perfect timing to use them for the Find Your MUSE(ic) video feature! Come out to the show or check back to see the coverage! In the meantime, check out more videos from The Crowning on their YouTube Channel.

FAM is a Pittsburgh, PA based music media company that’s all about the personal, emotional and social experience of music. The internet is awesome for finding music – living it is better! We’re bringing you professional photos from shows, articles, videos and more to remind you that your weekend doesn’t have to be spent here in the virtual world but with people who have at least one thing in common with you – a shared taste for music. Music media has been done before, but we flipped the script and concentrate on the stuff you haven’t seen yet – the local and regional bands that aren’t just a name on a billboard and a face on a stage. You’re probably still going to find some national level stuff happening around the Pittsburgh area but that’s because when they come to town, they’re part of our family… and once upon a time they were a local band from somewhere.
