Labyrinth Within Lunacy is the first single off of Post Mortal Possession‘s new album, Catacombs Of Bedlam. This song is a brutal descent into madness, with the lyrics painting a horrific unraveling of an abusively medicated mental patient losing their sanity, shackled in the depths of the institution. It truly makes a wicked pairing with the music here, and this song captures the overall theme of the album very well.
This song is a testament to the stamina of the band’s drummer. The insane blast beats and consistently blistering rhythms are awe inspiring. The guitars paint a picture of heavy dark scenes, with the breakdown in the middle of this song being one of my favorites of the album. I’m a fan of the huge guitar tone on this track, I could feel every note in my chest. The vocals throughout this song are an incredible range of different kinds of screams, growls, and squeals. The ending includes some of the sickest gutturals I’ve heard. The musicianship of these guys cannot be stated enough, it’s a pounding workout just listening to them play.
