Underground rap artist Madclock has been busy working on his new album Devils Never Cry and to give us a taste he released a first single “Hellfire”.
This is a man who is always evolving his sound, and the beats in the song is an example of that. He transitions from rapping to an almost death metal growl when it comes to the chorus which shows his rock influence. The video takes place in a church with demonic ladies prowling about who represent the evil surrounding the rap scene before it goes into a graveyard scene. The themes of the lyric is about how you have enemies everywhere who are seeking to drag you down on their level. The best thing to do in that situation is burn them down, and keep rising above. It is about cleansing yourself of their negativity, which we see when Madclock goes into a mausoleum and emerges from it changed. His name is crossed off the list as the negative forces look for their next victim. I really dug everything about the song and video, and for those who enjoy rap with a message, you should to.
