Music ReviewsDualism – Sam Astaroth(produced by Kristof Bathory)(Review)

When it was announced that Sam Astaroth would be collaborating with Kristof Bathory, who is the front man of Dawn of Ashes, I knew it would be a match made in Hell. After listening to their latest track “Dualism“, I ended up being right on the nose.

Sam Astaroth has that vocal style can match with nearly any genre, but he feels right at home in the aggrotech universe that Kristof has to offer. In his works during Dawn of Ashes, Kristof has proven willing to experiment and expand his sound, including aspects of dark synth, black metal, and industrial beats. This song is just another evolution of that sound, and Sam‘s distinctive growls and screams fits like a glove. It is pretty dark and intense, which is just how I like it. Lyrically, the track speaks of the contrast between one’s principles versus dedication. Someone may have the intention to pursue something, but it is a whole other matter of dedicating yourself to that passion. It is very though provoking of a song, and it was an instant add to my expansive musical library.

I have become big fan of Sam Astaroth since I was first introduced to his works, mainly because I tend to favor music on the darker side. Him working with Kristof Bathory was just the cherry on this nice evil cake, and if this a sign of what their hellish union can accomplish, I hope to hear more collaborations from them in the future.
