Los Angeles Industrial act Dawn of Ashes announced they are releasing a new album known as Antinomian, slated to be released on July 10th. The lead man Kristof Bathory has said this will be their best album yet, and if the single “Sleep Paralysis” is any indication, that very well may be true.

If anything, Dawn of Ashes has been about evolving their sound. They incorporated elements of Dark Electro, Industrial, Heavy Metal, and even Extreme Metal. They went on hiatus for a bit, only to re-emerge in 2016, and ever since then, their albums have been more solid than ever

The newest single, which was released May 1st, showcases a more dancey side of Dawn of Ashes. The band said they were going for a 90’s industrial vibe, and that is very evident here. One of Kristof’s main influences is Nine Inch Nails, which you can definitely tell in this song. The subject matter of this song is about how it feels to be in our society where pretty much we are surrounded by people who are unable to think for themselves, who are content to be asleep to the things around them. The beats here are very grimy and stompy, in fact I can see this being a club hit, when we are allowed to return to clubs again. It also contains samples, which Dawn of Ashes are very well known for sampling horror films and the like

You can find “Sleep Paralysis” on Spotify, and if you like what you hear, you can pre-order The Antinomian on the official Dawn of Ashes bandcamp. You can also follow the band on Facebook, Instagram, and their official YouTube pages.
