October is soon arriving, and this weekend is the calm before the storm, with a smattering of events to look forward to. Let’s take a look at what is to come.

Friday, October 1st, Outer Dark Media presents Heavy Metal Hangout Volume 1, which will be happening at Black Forge Coffee House II in Mckees Rocks. It will feature Bather, with local support from Narakah, Unfurl, and Nullum. The show starts at 7pm, and admission is $12. Come witness some good metal and leave with your face melted.

Also on Friday October 1st, The Almas will be hitting Sub Alpine Society with support from Once Around, Modern Fossils, and Altared States. The rocking kicks off at 6:30PM, and admission is $10 at the door.

Lastly, on Friday October 1st, Field Day will be hitting The Funhouse at Mr. Smalls, with support from Crooked Cobras and The Homicides. Doors open at 8pm, and tickets are $16 – $20. You can purchase tickets here. You like punk music that is in your face, you don’t want to miss this.

Saturday October 2nd, as part of the Pittsburgh Gaming Expo, musical guests Dethlehem, Viking Guitar, Danimal Cannon, Cyber Strike, and Normal Creatures will be playing a show for all attendees. The event starts at 12pm, and you can purchase tickets here. If you want to nerd out, and rock out, this is the place to be.

Also on Saturday October 2nd, Title Town will be returning to Spirit Bar in Lawrenceville for the next edition of their soul and funk party. They will be getting the spookiness started just in time for the Halloween season, and if you want to dress in costume, that is highly encouraged. The groovy tunes start at 9pm, and admission is $7 before 10pm, and $10 after.

On Sunday October 3rd, the October edition of Heavy Metal Parking Lot Market will be hitting Black Forge Coffee House II and will feature a variety of vendors. Whether you are looking for items to help add to your spooky decor, or just that special something, they will be sure to have it. It is free admission, and it all kicks off at 11am.

Not a whole lot, but still enough to wet your whistle for things to do this weekend. I am sure as October goes, it is going to get a whole lot busier, so take the time to enjoy things at your leisure while you can.
