August is coming out swinging with the first weekend being packed full of events. I hope you are ready!

Starting us off, on Friday August 5th and Saturday August 6th, Rock For Life concert series present Rock For Life 23 at Iselin Community Park in Saltsburgh, PA. Sponsored by RFL Records, it will feature numerous bands and vendors, and will be an outdoor event. Admission is $20, and for more details of what bands are performing and times, check out the website. It should be a fun time for the whole family, so come out and support if you can.

On Friday August 5th, Black Forge Coffee in McKees Rocks, PA presents ASAVA, amplifiers, and Silence Follows. The show starts at 7pm, and tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. You can purchase tickets here.

Also on Friday August 5th, Punk Rock Pro Choice Benefit Show will be taking place at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar in Pittsburgh, PA. It will be raising money for WPA Fund for Choice, and the bands performing are Kay Voss of Woman Driver, Lylyth, GRIN HOUND, Anxiety at Best, and UNDERSTATEMENT. The party gets started at 7pm, and no admission is listed but bring some cash to donate to a good cause.

In addition, on Friday August 5th, Dread Metal Productions presents a night of metal and hardcore punk at Philly At The Rocks in Erie, PA. There will be performances from Requiem for Oblivion, Polybius, Dysplacer, and Massive Denial. Starts at 8pm, and tickets are $5. You can purchase tickets here for what will be a good rocking time.

As well, on Friday August 5th, Diamond Life presents Left of the Dial at Brillobox in Pittsburgh, PA. It is a dance event where you will hear alternative music from all eras! It starts at 9pm, and admission is $7. Come ready to drop your socks and be ready to rock.

On Saturday August 6th, come witness the grand opening of a new live music venue at Bridge Music Bar in Pittsburgh, PA. There will be an all day festival that will pay tribute to women with star-studded line-up of amazing female artists. You will hear performances from Dejah Monea, Clara Kent, Bonnie and The Mere Mortals, Noa Jordan, Murder For Girls, Chandra Rhyme and Trilogy, Hemlock for Socrates, and Paging Doctor Moon. It will kick off starting at 3pm, and admission is $15.

Then on Saturday August 6th, Black Forge Coffee in Mckees Rocks, PA will be celebrating 7 years of caffeinated head-banging with Forged Fest. A heavy metal festival featuring the likes of Dead Men, Angelshredder, Solarburn, Ulyaoth, Greywalker, Slashers, Serpentshrine, Sadistic Ritual, and Doctor Smoke. The pit opens at 3pm, and tickets are $30. You can purchase tickets here for a chance to get brutally wrecked with in your face metal.

Also on Saturday August 6th, it will be a rockabilly barn burner at Sub Alpine in Turtle Creek, PA. Presenting Legendary Hucklebucks, Lords of the Highway, Low Life Drifters, and the debut of Thirteen Bends. Doors open at 7pm, and admission is $10. Come out and help raise a ruckus!

As well, on Saturday August 6th, Ellectronix! is coming to Cattivo in Lawrenceville, PA. It will feature Freida Abtan of Nurse Without Wound with special guests Swampwalk, Burnt-feathers, and Yessi. It starts at 8pm, and tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. You can purchase advance tickets here.

Saturday August 6th, The Beasts of the Burgh will be invading Mr Smalls in Millvale, PA. The bands playing will be Chip & The Charge Ups, Black Ridge, amplifiers on a second show, and Johnny and the Razorblades. The show starts at 8pm, and tickets are $10-$12. You can purchase tickets here. Come out to see the best that Pittsburgh has to offer.

Saturday August 6th, Dread Metal Productions returns to Philly At The Rocks in Erie,PA for a punk/stoner rock show. This time around, you will see performances from Fastfall, The Skratchtrax, The Stone Eye, and Higher Vibration. Doors open at 8pm, and tickets are $5. You can purchase tickets here. Looks like a good lineup, so if you are in the area, go check that out!

A couple of dance night to look forward to in Lawrenceville, PA on Saturday August 6th. First, we have the return of Title Town Soul and Funk Dance Party at Spirit. Come get your fix of that soul and funk music you know and love, and be ready to move your feet and booty all night long! The party starts at 9pm, and admission is $10.

Then at Cattivo, Blacklist Entertainment will be returning for Requiem. There will be two guest DJs this time around with the return of Dj Callisto and Krass Advert. Everyone will be bringing you the best goth and industrial tracks for you to get down to and maybe let some stress out in the process. The night starts at 9:30pm, and admission is $6.

Saturday August 6th, it will be an evening of female-fronted alt-rock awesomeness at Southside VFW in Pitsburgh, PA. There will be Dichro, Sahayra, and Emm Bones. It starts at 10pm, and admission is $10. If you night owls want to have a crazy fun time, then this show should be the one for you.

On Sunday August 7th, it is the return of the Heavy Metal Parking Lot at Black Forge Coffee in Mckees Rocks, PA. It will feature 40 vendors who will have everything from art, records, and other odditities and curiousities. It starts at 11am, and it is free to attend. Come do some shopping and help support local artists and businesses.

Then, on Sunday August 7th, 717 Entertainment presents Sepsiss with Nailbite, Take the Name,Spinebelt, and Mantra of Morta at Lovedraft’s Brewing Co in Mechanicsburg, PA. Doors open at 6pm, and tickets are $7. You can purchase tickets here for a solid stacked Sunday show.

Speaking of stacked shows, also on Sunday August 7th, WTF-TV.COM presents Green Jello at the Sub Alpine in Pittsburgh, PA. There will be support from Prime 8, Corpse God, Neostem, and False Positive. It starts at 5pm, and admission is $15 in advance or $18 at the door. You know this show is going to get crazy, and come out and be ready for punk rock puppet madness.
