Metal music in Brazil may not be the first thought for metalheads, but the Brazilian metal band, StormSons is working to rock a storm around the world, starting with their latest release “Black and Grey”.

The band takes influences from southern and stoner metal. Their sound is raw and heavy with hits of harmonic melodies over top. It’s definitely a sound that combines old roots of metal with the new twists being heard today. It’s hard work to become an international band though. They have been through a lot to be able to make it where they are today since Brazil isn’t exactly a hub for metal.

“Here in Brazil rock and metal have never been the main style of music,” says vocalist, Kadu Pelegrini. “You need to like what you do a LOT and not expect too much in return for your effort. However, it has never stopped us from always wanting to improve more and to achieve an international level with our music.”

Through a lot of hard work, StormSons has spent the last months putting together a new album with intentions to broadcast their sound everywhere. With a motivated mindset, it will be a thrill to see what is next to come from them.

First Angel Media caught up with Pelegrini about all things surrounding the band.

– What inspired you to start the band?

“I grew up listening to bands and artists who sing in English. I needed to open up horizons and reach as many people as possible with my music. Unfortunately, singing in Portuguese I couldn’t do that. StormSons gave me the ability to be heard and we look forward to the world getting to know our sound.”

– How did Coronavirus impact your art?
“Unfortunately, the area of music and entertainment were the most affected, with the lack of shows especially. We are using this time to compose and finalize our new album which is becoming sensational.”

– Who would you like to tour with and why?
“We admire many bands that were responsible for our formation as musicians, though many of the bands are no longer active. But we would love to be able to share the stages with bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Alter Bridge, Volbeat, Ghost, and many others.”

– You recently released your latest single, “Black and Grey” What does this song mean to you?
“This song represents StormSons in all aspects. From the dark lyrics, the cadence that changes during the song, the strong and striking refrain, and of course the heavy and dense instrumental.”

– What was the biggest inspiration for your next album?
“Many things that happened recently that affected my inspiration. My father’s death especially did and at the moment this sudden isolation right after my girlfriend’s suicide makes me write a lot as an escape.”

– What are you most excited about with your next album?
“It’s certainly our best work so far. The music is flowing naturally and our evolution as musicians and composers is getting better every day.”

– What do you want the future of the band to look like?
“Just to show our music to the world by doing as many shows as possible after this nightmare is over.”

– Anything else you would like to say to readers?
“The storm is coming.”
